Medicine Collections

Did you know that both the Whitestown Municipal Complex and the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department offer medicine collection bins for public use? These bins are available to help residents safely and responsibly dispose of unused or expired medications.

The medicine collection bins provide a safe and convenient way to dispose of unused or expired medications. Proper disposal helps prevent accidental poisoning, medication misuse, and environmental harm. By using the collection bin, you ensure medications are handled and destroyed safely.

The items accepted in the medicine collection bin include prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and pet medications. Needles must be disposed of in an approved sharps container, NOT in this bin.

All needles, including injection pens, must be placed directly into the sharps container located on the wall next to the medicine collection bin. If needed, you may take a sharps container home for personal use. Please fill the container with sharps only and return it to the Boone County Health Department (116 West Washington Street, Room B201, Lebanon, IN 46052) for safe and proper disposal.
