Town of Whitestown makes parks improvements

Mar 11, 2020 | News, Parks & Recreation Department

– The Town of Whitestown is making improvements to two of its
parks.

Improvements at Main Street Park, located at 4286 South Main Street, include
resurfacing the playground area, cornhole and parking lot. Enhancements to
the drainage pipes on the splash pad will also be made. Each project will
require the area to be closed to visitors for several days, but other amenities at
the park will be open during construction.

“While the closures pose a short-term inconvenience to parkgoers, our hope is
that these improvements will provide a long-term gain and last for years to
come,” said Whitestown Parks Director Savannah Solgere.

Two new large play structures and one rotating structure will be installed at
Panther Park, located at 300 South Buck Street. One large structure will be
geared towards kids ages 2-5 and the other will cater to ages 5-12. A new swing
set will include two regular swings, one mommy-and-me swing and one toddler
swing.

“Our plan is for both parks to be completed by mid-April, but the weather will
play a factor in the timeline,” said Solgere. “We encourage residents to follow
the town’s social media pages for the latest updates.”
