Whitestown Diversity Day

Jun 28, 2019 | Human Relations Commission, News

Whitestown residents will celebrate the diversity of our growing community on July 20th, as the Whitestown Human Relations Commission hosts the town’s 1st annual Diversity Day. Diversity Day will run concurrently with the Whitestown Farmers Market in the south parking lot of the Whitestown Municipal Complex from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 20th .

“The goal of Diversity Day is to highlight organizations available in our community to support individuals of various racial and ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs, gender, etc. with an overall mission of being a community that is accepting of all individuals from a variety of backgrounds and beliefs,” explains Human Relations Commission member Melody Berg. “We hope the HRC can build partnerships with these organizations moving forward so that we can continue to offer a variety of events for all citizens of Whitestown, including future Diversity Days.”

Organizations participating in this year’s Diversity Day include ACLU Indiana, Indianapolis Urban League, Japan-American Society of Indiana, Sunshine Social Club, Special Olympics of Boone County, Indiana Pride of Color, GenderNexus and more.

The Human Relations Commission is looking for other organizations that would be interested in participating, as well as individuals or groups that may be interested in entertaining or sharing their talents on stage during the event. Interested organizations, groups, or individuals should contact Berg for more information at: melodylberg80@gmail.com.
