Whitestown, IN – [November 18] – The Town of Whitestown is investing $14 million from its capacity fund to expand its wastewater treatment plant, increasing its capacity from 1.7 million gallons per day to 2.3 million gallons per day. This investment will ensure the wastewater infrastructure can accommodate the anticipated growth of the community over the next 5 to 10 years.
The expansion is funded entirely through the Town’s capacity fund, which has over $14 million through a capacity charge for each new connection to the system. The capacity fund enables Whitestown to enhance its infrastructure without imposing additional costs on current residents and utility customers. As a result, it is not funded by taxpayer dollars.
“Whitestown is experiencing significant growth, and this expansion is important to support our residents and businesses,” said Town Manager Katie Barr. “By utilizing our capacity fund, we are preparing for the future while upholding high service standards, all without using taxpayer dollars for the expansion.”
The expansion is expected to break ground by the end of 2024 and will take approximately two years to complete.
