Crafting Classes

Indoor Program

Are you a creative individual who is looking to join other crafters with similar interests? Crafting classes are offered at the Whitestown Municipal Complex Gym. Check out the available classes and join for a creative experience!

All participants are required to sign a waiver. All minors (under 18) must be accompanied by an adult. Please fill out the waiver at the programming table when arriving.

Crafting Classes

Paint Like Bob Ross

Learn to paint like Bob Ross in a few hours and take home your very own version of a Bob Ross oil painting! All supplies are included, such as paint, brushes, and canvas. This class is taught by Sam Tredmeyer at On A Limb Painting. He is a local Certified Ross Instructor (CRI). The class is $50 per painter. All skill levels are welcome.

Ages: 10 years old and up are recommended.

Counted Cross-Stitch

Join us for a fun and relaxing cross-stitching class where creativity meets tradition! Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this class will guide you through the basics of cross-stitching and help you create your own beautiful design. You’ll learn the techniques, tips, and tricks to bring your stitchery to life in a friendly, hands-on environment. This class is available for all ages and pre-registration is required.

  • Time: 9-10:30 a.m.

  • Cost: $20 (cash only). Paid to the instructor
  • Class Size: 20 spots available

Crochet Class

Ready to get crafty? Whether you’re brand new to crochet or looking to brush up your skills, this beginner-friendly class is the perfect place to start! In this hands-on session, you’ll learn the basics of crochet—how to hold your hook, read a simple pattern, and master key stitches like the chain, single crochet, and double crochet. Choose your project: a cozy scarf or a stylish dishcloth. All materials are provided, and you’ll walk away with a handmade piece and a new hobby that’s relaxing, creative, and fun.

Knitting 101 Course

Ready to dive into the world of knitting? Join us for a fun and informative Knitting 101 Course where you’ll learn the basics of this relaxing and rewarding craft! Whether you’ve never picked up a pair of needles or are looking to refresh your skills, this class will teach you the foundational techniques to start creating your own cozy creations. Moving forward this class is for adults only and pre-registration is required.

  • Date: Saturday’s January 17 and 24
  • Time: 10-11:30a.m.

Knitting 102 Course

Already mastered the basics of knitting or completed our Knitting 101 Course? Then Knitting 102 Course is for you! This class is designed to focus on the purl stitch, a key technique that opens up a world of beautiful textures and patterns. If you’ve got your knit stitch down, it’s time to add the purl stitch to your toolkit! Moving forward this class is for adults only and pre-registration is required.

  • Date: Saturday mornings (please see the monthly calendar for details)
  • Time: 9-10:30 a.m.
  • Location: Whitestown Municipal Gym (6210 Veterans Drive, Whitestown, IN)
  • Cost: $30 (cash only) covers both dates. Paid to the instructor
  • Class Size: 10 spots available

Knitting 103 Course

Already mastered the basics of knitting and purling or completed our Knitting 101 & 102 Courses? Then Knitting 103 is the course for you! This class is designed to focus on knitting in the round (circular knitting), a key technique that creates a seamless tube, like for hats or sleeves. If you’ve got your knit and purl stitches down, it’s time to add the circular stitch to your toolkit! This class is for adults only, and pre-registration is required.

  • Time: 2:30-4 p.m.
  • Location: Whitestown Municipal Gym (6210 Veterans Drive, Whitestown, IN)
  • Cost: $30 (cash only) covers both dates. Paid to the instructor
