This is the highest honor to be bestowed upon any member of the WFD. This award is not issued without strict consideration, review of the peer-based award committed, recommendation from the combined administration, and confirmation of the Chief of the Department. The Medal of Valor is only issued for acts of true heroism and selfless sacrifice in the execution of duties to save or attempt to save another life.
