A New Library Opening in Whitestown

Whitestown, IN [April 15, 2024] – The Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library is holding a grand opening for the Whitestown Branch on Saturday, April 20, 2024. It is the first public library in Whitestown, and it will provide library services to the vibrant Whitestown community.

The opening festivities will begin at 2 p.m. with a lineup of speakers, highlighting the importance of literacy, community engagement, and the role of libraries in fostering knowledge and connection. Following the speeches, there will be a ceremonial ribbon-cutting to officially mark the opening of the Whitestown Branch.

From 2:30-5 p.m., attendees are invited for guided building tours to view the amenities and resources the library has for residents of all ages. Attendees can see MakerStudio technology demonstrations, which include laser-cutting, a 3D printer, and more.

“It is with joyful anticipation that we begin the countdown to the grand opening of the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library, Whitestown Branch!  This will be a true community space for all to enjoy and it offers a wealth of experiences and programming for all users,” said Dan Patterson, Town Council President. “I am confident that our residents and visitors will see the new library for the invaluable jewel that it is, and I am proud to be able to welcome them, officially, to Whitestown!”

At 3 p.m., the Teddy Bear Symphony concert will take place in the community room. The concert is designed for ages 3-6 to enjoy. From 3-4:30 p.m., therapy dogs will be in the Quiet Reading Room for attendees to visit.

“The construction of this library symbolizes a significant milestone, as Whitestown opens a new chapter on its own story with the addition of our very own library,” stated Cheryl Hancock, Town Council member who serves on Whitestown Library Branch committees. “In a momentous step forward, the town of Whitestown is marking a historic moment with this long-awaited addition. This project promises to unite neighbors, spark imaginations, and foster a love of reading and learning for generations to come.”

Come join the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library staff, Whitestown town officials, and residents to celebrate the opening of the Whitestown Branch on April 20 from 2-5 p.m. Together, let us embark on a new chapter of discovery, learning, and community engagement.
