Child Abuse Prevention Month
Organizations like Prevent Child Abuse Boone County are dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect and making a safer, better place for children. Anyone who suspects a child has been neglected or abused should call the Indiana Department of Child Services at 1-800-800-5556.
In 2008, Prevent Child Abuse America introduced the pinwheel as the new national symbol for child abuse prevention. Pinwheels were chosen for their association with joy and childhood. It is a physical reminder of the childhoods we want each child to experience. The spinning of the pinwheels reminds everyone of the positive cycles of love and support we want each family to create. In honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, there is a pinwheel garden located at the Whitestown Municipal Complex.
Autism Awareness Month
Autism affects more than 80 million people worldwide. The Town Council encourages citizens to learn more about autism and what they can do to support individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. We are pleased to have the Behavior Analysis Center for Autism (BACA) right here in Whitestown to empower kids and families to build the skills needed to live a happy and fulfilling life.
