Mar 6, 2023 | News, Parks & Recreation Department

The Whitestown Parks and Recreation Department has announced plans for three Spring events happening in April.

“We are pleased to offer a variety of family-friendly events for our community to enjoy,” said Whitestown Parks Director Dominic Cornett.

Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Easter Egg Hunt, presented by Traders Point Christian Schools, will be on Saturday, April 8 at Main Street Park from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. There will be community vendors, yard games, and a sensory-friendly activity area. The egg hunt will be split up by age:

  • 10:30 a.m. – ages 0-3
  • 10:50 a.m. – ages 4-7
  • 11:10 a.m. – ages 8+

Children should bring their own basket to collect eggs. The Easter Bunny will also be available to take photos at this free event.

Battle of the Badges 5K

Lace up your running (or walking) shoes for the second-annual Battle of the Badges 5K, presented by Meijer, on Saturday, April 22. This family-friendly event features a fun competition between the Whitestown Fire and Police Departments. Choose which team you will support when you register and let the battle begin!

The race kicks off at 8 a.m. and begins and ends at Traders Point Christian High School. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Isaiah 117 House, which provides physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting foster care placement.

Registration is available here.

Viking Fest

Whitestown’s 2023 Viking Fest, presented by TDS, will take place on April 28-30 at Anson Acres Park. There will be Viking-themed reenactors in full garb swinging their weapons, multiple Viking villages, stage entertainment, artisans selling crafted items, food, mead, inflatables, and more! The event is open from 4-9 p.m. on Friday, 12-9 p.m. on Saturday, and 12-5 p.m. on Sunday.

Strong men and women can take place in a Keg Toss competition, while the strong young Vikings can participate in an Iron Skillet toss competition. Prizes will be awarded to each age group.

Tickets are $7 each in advance or $10 each at the gate. Children 2 and under are free. Each purchased ticket is good for any single event date. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate.
