On April 13, the Whitestown Town Council adopted two proclamations.
The first proclamation declared April as Autism Awareness Month in Whitestown and charged town staff with the responsibility of actively promoting Autism Awareness Month in the Town in order to become better educated about autism and create a better community for individuals with autism. In honor of this event, the Town Council encourages citizens to learn more about autism and what they can do to support individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. The second proclamation declared April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Whitestown and charged town staff with the responsibility of actively promoting Child Abuse Prevention Month in the Town each year in order to make a positive impact on the future through the prevention of child abuse and neglect. The Town Council urges all citizens to take the opportunity to renew their commitment to protecting the children of Boone County; for in so doing, we will enhance the quality of life not only for children at risk, but for the entire citizenry as well. In recognition of this month, there is a pinwheel garden at the Whitestown Municipal Complex. View the proclamation here.
