The moon will pass between the Earth and the sun which’ll cast a shadow over Whitestown and create a breathtaking total solar eclipse at approximately 3:06 p.m. and last around 4 minutes.

There will be a limited number of solar eclipse glasses available for attendees at Solar Jam. The glasses are first come, first serve.

Parking on-site is limited. Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to enjoy the event. No personal pop-up tents or canopies are permitted. Outside alcohol is also prohibited. In the event of bad weather, spectators should go back to their vehicles.

Safety Tips for the Solar Eclipse

  • Do not look at the eclipse without proper solar eclipse eyewear (Note: regular eyeglasses and sunglasses will not provide protection).
  • Always inspect your glasses before use; do not use them if torn, scratched, or damaged.
  • View the sun through eclipse glasses or a handheld solar viewer during the total solar eclipse and the partial eclipse phases before and after totality.
  • Do not use a phone, camera, or any other type of lens to take a photo of the eclipse (it will break the lens of your device).
  • If you’re watching an entire eclipse, you may be in direct sunlight for hours. We recommend wearing sunscreen, a hat, and protective clothing to prevent skin damage.
  • Please be patient with traffic following the event. The traffic pattern is provided and directed by traffic controllers.
