Town of Whitestown welcomes Director of Developmental Services

Jan 25, 2021 | Building Department, Department of Planning and Community Development, News

The Town of Whitestown announces the hiring of Todd Barker as Director of Developmental Services.

Barker will oversee the operation of the Building and Planning Departments.

“We are pleased to welcome Todd to our team,” said Whitestown Town Manager Jason Lawson. “Todd will identify ways to streamline our processes and create more efficiencies between the building and planning departments.”

For the last twenty-one years, Todd has been an advocate for improving the quality of life for all residents through strategic and lasting shifts in local government processes. He most recently served as the Director of Development Services for the Town of Brownsburg.

“Todd’s extensive background in planning and development will be a great addition to our team,” said Whitestown Nathan Messer.

Barker holds a Bachelor of Urban Planning and Development degree and Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University. He is certified through the American Institute of Certified Planners and also as an Indiana Certified Public Manager.

“Throughout my career, I have embodied the philosophy of leaving things better than I found them,” said Barker. “In each position I’ve held, I have been able to find a balance between what is working well and timely changes that facilitate lasting change and I plan to do the same for the Town of Whitestown.”

Todd and his wife live in Brownsburg with their daughter. Todd gives back to the community by participating in a local literacy program where he visits a kindergarten class each month to read.

Barker begins working at the Town of Whitestown on February 8
